Bucephalandra - Melon Port Aquatic

Bucephalandra - Melon

Bucephalandra 'Melon' is a striking Bucephalandra variety admired for its broad, textured leaves and rich green coloration with subtle metallic highlights. Its compact growth habit and unique leaf shape make it an excellent choice for creating depth and contrast in any planted aquarium. As a slow-growing epiphytic plant native to Borneo, it performs best when attached to driftwood, rocks, or other hardscape rather than planted directly into the substrate.

Easy to care for and highly adaptable, Bucephalandra 'Melon' thrives under low to medium lighting and can be grown in both low-tech and high-tech aquariums. While it grows well without CO₂, regular fertilisation and CO₂ supplementation will encourage fuller growth and more vibrant coloration. Ideal for foreground and midground placement, this hardy plant also provides excellent shelter for shrimp and small fish, making it a valuable addition to any freshwater aquascape.

Features:

  • Leaf Colour: Rich green with subtle metallic highlights

  • Placement: Foreground / Midground

  • Lighting: Low to medium

  • CO₂: Optional (recommended for enhanced growth)

  • Growth Rate: Slow

  • Best attached to driftwood, rocks, or other hardscape materials
