Description & care

Gold Zebra Danio – 3cm

The Gold Zebra Danio is an extremely popular and beloved freshwater aquarium fish. With its small body, shimmering golden-yellow coloration, and silver-white horizontal stripes running along the body, it looks like tiny rays of sunshine constantly moving through your planted aquarium.

🐟 Key Features

  • Eye-catching coloration: The body features a dominant lemon-yellow to golden-yellow color, which reflects beautifully under aquarium lighting.

  • Ideal size: At 3cm, the fish is at a healthy juvenile-to-subadult size, with clearly developing coloration and good adaptability to a new aquarium environment.

  • Active schooling behavior: This is a schooling fish and is best kept in groups of 5–10 or more. They are fast swimmers that mainly occupy the upper and middle levels of the aquarium, creating a lively and dynamic display.

  • Extremely hardy: Considered one of the easiest aquarium fish to keep, with excellent adaptability and resilience, making it a great choice for beginners.

  • Peaceful community fish: Generally peaceful and suitable for community aquariums with other small fish such as Neon Tetras, Guppies, other Zebra Danio varieties, and ornamental shrimp.

🛠 Specifications & Care

  • Maximum size: Approximately 4–5cm (current size: 3cm).

  • Water temperature: 18°C–26°C

  • pH: 6.5–7.5

  • Diet: Omnivorous and very easy to feed. They readily accept small pellets or flakes (such as Inve or Thai T1), as well as Artemia, bloodworms, and frozen foods.

💡 Benefits of Keeping Gold Zebra Danio

  • Stress relief: Watching a group of shimmering golden fish actively swimming around the aquarium can create a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere after a long day.

  • Active upper-level swimmers: They frequently forage throughout the upper areas of the aquarium, helping consume floating food and reducing leftover food near the water surface.
