Fresh Mulberry Leaves

🌿 Benefits of Fresh Mulberry Leaves

  1. Natural Food Source
    • Leaves contain proteins, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals.
    • Shrimps, plecos, otocinclus, and snails will graze on the biofilm and softened leaf.
  2. Encourages Biofilm Growth
    • Mulberry leaves release organic matter that supports bacterial and microbe growth → shrimps love grazing on it.
  3. Digestive & Health Support
    • Rich in fiber → improves shrimp digestion.
    • Contains antioxidants that may support immunity and molting.
  4. Safe & Sustainable
    • Chemical-free mulberry leaves are a natural, cheap, and eco-friendly supplement.

🛠️ Process Guide

1. Preparation

  • Wash thoroughly under running water.
  • Optional blanching: Dip leaves in boiling water for 30–60 seconds, then cool in cold water.
    • This softens the leaf → easier for shrimp to eat.
    • Removes any possible surface pathogens.

2. Feeding Method

  • Place 1 small leaf (3–5 cm) per 20–30 shrimps.
  • Let it sink naturally or weigh it down with a feeding clip/stone.
  • Leave in the tank for 24–48 hours.
  • Remove leftovers if not eaten to prevent water quality issues.

3. Frequency

  • 1–2 times per week as a supplement, not as the main food.
  • Rotate with other natural foods (almond leaves, spinach, zucchini, algae wafers).
Note

  • Avoid leaves with white spots or fungus.
  • Do not overfeed → too many leaves can cause ammonia spikes.
  • Observe your shrimp/fish → if they don’t touch it within 24h, try blanching or using younger leaves
