Green Jade Cherry Shrimp are a hit among Australian aquarists. They add vibrant green shades and eye-catching colour morphs to any freshwater aquarium. These dwarf shrimp are a stunning addition.
These shrimp come from Taiwan's rivers and streams. They love areas with lush greenery and gentle water. In the wild, they prefer water with moderate pH and slightly hard conditions.
Green Jade Cherry Shrimp grow up to 3 centimetres long. They have a unique colour range from deep emerald green to lighter jade. Their colour changes based on their genetics and environment.
With the right care, these shrimp can live up to 2 years. They start as transparent shrimplets and grow into vibrant green adults. Knowing their life stages helps in giving them the best care.
To create a great home for your Green Jade Cherry Shrimp, you need to copy their natural habitat. This means setting up a shrimp tank setup that's perfect for them to live well. The tank size is very important. We suggest a tank of at least 10 gallons (38 litres) for a small group of shrimp. This size gives them enough room to swim and lets you add live aquarium plants and decorations for a planted aquarium look. The substrate is also key. Use fine gravel or sand mixed with nutrient-rich soil. This gives your shrimp a good base to burrow and graze. Make sure the substrate is clean and has no sharp edges to hurt your shrimp. Filtration is vital for keeping the water clean. A sponge filter or a hang-on-back filter with low flow is best. It won't stress your shrimp with strong currents. Live plants also help filter the water and give your shrimp places to hide. Remember to add important equipment like a heater and thermometer to keep the water at the right temperature. Good lighting is also needed for the live aquarium plants to grow. With the right shrimp tank setup, you'll have a thriving colony of Green Jade Cherry Shrimp in your aquarium.
Keeping the right water conditions is key for our freshwater shrimp, like the Green Jade Cherry Shrimp. As fans of aquarium invertebrates, we'll explore the vital water parameters. These will help these delicate creatures flourish in our aquariums.
The Green Jade Cherry Shrimp likes a temperature between 18-26°C. It's vital to keep the temperature steady. This prevents stress for these sensitive freshwater shrimp. They also do well in a pH of 6.5-7.5, which is slightly acidic to neutral.
These aquarium invertebrates prefer soft to medium hard water. The general hardness should be between 4-8 dGH. Calcium and magnesium are crucial for their shell growth and health.
Tank Size | Weekly Water Change |
10 gallons (38 litres) | 25-30% |
20 gallons (76 litres) | 20-25% |
30 gallons (114 litres) | 15-20% |
Regular water changes are crucial for the health of our freshwater shrimp. The schedule depends on the tank size. Larger tanks need less frequent changes. Feed them small amounts often during the day. This lets them graze and keeps nutrients flowing. But, be careful not to overfeed. This can harm the water quality. Start with a little and adjust as they eat more. By mixing up their diet, we ensure they get all the nutrients they need. This also helps their colours pop. By meeting their dietary needs, we help our shrimp flourish and look their best in our tanks.
Breeding Green Jade Cherry Shrimp is a rewarding hobby for many. These neocaridina species are known for their bright colours and resilience. They are a favourite among shrimp keepers. To breed them successfully, there are a few key things to consider.
Knowing the difference between male and female shrimp is the first step. Males are slender and longer, while females are bigger and rounder. Before breeding, females will show a saddle or egg-bearing structure on their back.
Creating the right environment is vital for breeding. Keep the water temperature between 20-25°C. The pH should be between 6.5-7.5, and the water hardness should be moderate. The tank should be well-planted for hiding spots and grazing surfaces. Regular, gentle water changes are also important.
By following these tips and creating the perfect environment, you can watch your Green Jade Cherry Shrimp population grow. With patience and the right care, you'll have a thriving shrimp breeding project.

However, the shrimp and fish you receive may be discolored and the reason of this issue is strong vibration during transportation and they're not be fed during the transport period
To handle this problem we highly recommend to you:
🚩Let the fish relax helps them adapt to any changes in water temperature in the tank. Also prevents pH shock - an imbalance between the water in the shop tank and your tank.
🚩Place the fish bag in a cool, corner, and dark place. Prevent the bag from being bumped, slipped, or dropped. This'll give your new fish a good recovery and acclimatization after a shaky ride from the shop to your home.
🚩Feed your old fish first to distract them, preventing them from bullying your new fish.
🚩Your new aquarium tank should have a pH of zero ammonia and chlorine before adding new fish.
🚩Turn off the lights, reduce the glare in the room, or limit the light entering the aquarium. This will help the new fish not be stressed.
Really happy with the service it’s fast and the fish/shrimp are always healthy and now thriving in there new home
Not happy 17 arrived , 20 ordered. Only 2 of which have a very light green the rest are mostly clear & yellow with brown markings very low grade culls at the most. Introduced to my newly cleaned tank with 20 existing nice jades I got 5 weeks ago which hoping it was just the shipping that made them dull but they have caused me a big problem now.
Very disappointed & frustrated with this situation.
All shrimp arrived alive and active. Shipping was outstanding. Hot hands heaters where place inside package to ensure the shrimp stayed warm in below freezing temperatures during transit. I will be ordering from them again in the future.
All shrimp arrived safely and they look great!

All of my shrimp arrived healthy ( 30 Blue Diamond ), as they grow it looks like I have 18 females and 12 males. It's now been a month and 2 of my beautiful females are now buried. I'm so excited to have baby's in a few weeks. So 5 stars from me.
Great addition to my tank. Very active swimmers and get along great with my Neon Tetra's, Ember Tetra's and cherry shrimp.
I had my Tiger Pleco shipped. It arrived in healthy condition. It is thriving in my tank now 3 weeks later. I would recommend this service and this fish! It's already grown quite a lot and seems very happy in its new home.
The perfect addition to any community tank- these guys settled in nicely and already gotten along with my other corys. They are so amusing to watch swim around with eachother. Micro aquatic shop delivered them to me packaged safely and in great condition.
Got myself 6 Amanpa Redbacks a month ago. A week ago a pair spawned and are caring for a clutch of free swimmers in a community tank. 2 days ago another trio (female, 2 males) spawned in the tank also. I am going to be over run with Angels if these keep breeding like this lol.
