Nature Driftwood (41x23x28cm)
Nature Driftwood – Care & Preparation Guide
Natural driftwood is a beautiful addition to any aquarium, providing a natural appearance while creating shelter and grazing surfaces for fish, shrimp, and aquatic plants.
Before Use:
-
Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove dust and loose debris.
-
Soak the driftwood for several days to several weeks, depending on its size, to help it become waterlogged and reduce tannins.
-
Boiling (if the piece fits) can help speed up the soaking process and further reduce tannin release.
Important Notes:
-
Natural driftwood may release tannins, which can tint the water a light tea colour. This is completely natural and generally harmless to fish and shrimp.
-
Tannins will gradually decrease with regular water changes and continued soaking.
-
Some pieces may develop a white biofilm during the first few weeks underwater. This is a harmless natural fungus that usually disappears on its own or can be removed manually. Shrimp and some fish species will happily feed on it.
Aquascaping Tips:
-
Attach mosses, Bucephalandra, Anubias, or Java Fern using aquarium-safe glue or cotton thread.
-
Ensure the driftwood is fully submerged or securely weighted until it naturally sinks.
As this is a natural product, every piece is unique in shape, size, colour, and texture. Photos are for reference only, and you will receive a one-of-a-kind piece.
