Which pack size should I choose?
Choose the pack size based on how you would like to grow your shrimp colony:
- 20-30 shrimp: a great starting colony for a mature, well-filtered 30-litre aquarium.
- 50 shrimp: ideal for creating a fuller display or expanding an existing colony.
- 100 shrimp: best suited to larger planted tanks, breeding setups or customers growing multiple shrimp tanks.
Starting with at least 10 shrimp is recommended to establish a colony. A pack of 20-30 gives you a more visible and active colony from the beginning.
Can I buy 50 or 100 shrimp for one aquarium?
Yes. Larger packs are suitable for established aquariums with stable water conditions, good filtration and plenty of plants.
For a smaller or newly established aquarium, you can still purchase a larger pack and add the shrimp in stages. This gives the aquarium biofilter time to adjust as the colony grows.
Why add shrimp in stages?
A larger shrimp colony naturally creates more biological waste. Adding shrimp gradually allows the beneficial bacteria in your aquarium and filter time to grow and process the increased bioload.
A beneficial bacteria product such as Seachem Stability can also be used to support the biofilter when adding new livestock. Shop Seachem Stability.
Can I mix different colours in one bulk pack?
Each bulk pack applies to one selected Cherry Shrimp variety.
If you would like a colourful mixed colony, choose our Mix Colour Cherry Shrimp option.
Are all colours and pack sizes always available?
Availability varies by colour and current livestock levels.
Popular colours and larger packs may sell out earlier than others. Open your preferred shrimp variety to view the pack sizes currently available.
Do Cherry Shrimp need a heater during winter?
Cherry Shrimp can tolerate cooler temperatures, but a stable aquarium temperature helps support consistent activity and breeding.
If your aquarium becomes cold during winter, consider using a heater to maintain a more stable environment. Shop aquarium heaters.
Can livestock be shipped during colder weather?
Yes. Livestock orders are carefully packed and shipped using Toll Overnight Express to reduce transit time.
