To make your Ludwigia Glandulosa thrive, you need to create the right environment. This plant is known for its beautiful reddish colour. We'll look at the best water conditions, lighting, substrate, and nutrients for it to grow well in your aquarium.
Ludwigia Glandulosa likes a slightly acidic to neutral pH, between 6.0 to 7.5. The water hardness should be soft to medium, around 5-15 dGH. Keeping the temperature between 22-28°C is also crucial for its growth.
This plant needs moderate to high light, about 2-4 watts per gallon. For a 40-gallon tank, that's 40-80 watts. Make sure the light is on for 8-10 hours a day to bring out its vibrant red colour.
Ludwigia Glandulosa does well in nutrient-rich, well-drained substrates. A mix of gravel or sand with aquarium soil or plant-specific substrate is great. Make sure the substrate is at least 2-3 inches deep for the plant's roots to grow well.
For the best growth and colour, a reliable CO2 system is a must. Also, regular fertilisation with a good aquarium plant fertiliser is key. It provides the necessary nutrients for the plant to thrive. By following these tips, you can create the perfect environment for your Ludwigia Glandulosa. It will be a stunning and easy-to-care-for part of your aquarium.
We love growing vibrant, healthy aquatic plants like Ludwigia Glandulosa. In plant care and aquascaping, knowing how to propagate and maintain is key. This ensures your Ludwigia thrives in your underwater world. Let's explore the steps to help you enjoy this captivating red plant.
Stem cuttings are the most common way to propagate Ludwigia Glandulosa. Take a healthy stem and cut it just below a leaf node. Make sure there are at least 2-3 leaf nodes on the cutting. Plant it in your substrate, burying the node, and watch for new roots and growth. You can also divide the plant to propagate. Carefully separate it into sections and replant them.
To keep your Ludwigia Glandulosa healthy, regular pruning is key. Remove yellowing or damaged leaves and stems to promote bushy growth. Leave at least 2-3 leaf nodes on each stem to encourage new growth. Also, ensure the right water parameters, lighting, and fertilisation for optimal growth and colour.

Keeping Ludwigia Glandulosa looking its best can be a bit tricky. But with the right approach, we can easily solve common problems. This way, our Ludwigia Glandulosa will thrive as a beautiful, easy-to-care-for plant in our tanks.
One big challenge is making sure Ludwigia Glandulosa gets all the nutrients it needs. Not enough iron, phosphorus, or trace elements can cause stunted growth, color changes, and even decay. To fix this, we should use a good fertilisation plan, keep an eye on water quality, and maybe add root tabs or liquid fertilisers.
Ludwigia Glandulosa can get algae, especially if the light is too strong or the nutrients are off balance. Green spot algae, black beard algae, and hair algae can take over the plant's beauty. To fight this, we should adjust the light, keep water changes regular, and use algae-eating fish or shrimp.
Watching how our Ludwigia Glandulosa grows helps us spot and fix problems fast. This way, it stays a vibrant, easy-to-care-for part of our aquarium.

However, the shrimp and fish you receive may be discolored and the reason of this issue is strong vibration during transportation and they're not be fed during the transport period
To handle this problem we highly recommend to you:
🚩Let the fish relax helps them adapt to any changes in water temperature in the tank. Also prevents pH shock - an imbalance between the water in the shop tank and your tank.
🚩Place the fish bag in a cool, corner, and dark place. Prevent the bag from being bumped, slipped, or dropped. This'll give your new fish a good recovery and acclimatization after a shaky ride from the shop to your home.
🚩Feed your old fish first to distract them, preventing them from bullying your new fish.
🚩Your new aquarium tank should have a pH of zero ammonia and chlorine before adding new fish.
🚩Turn off the lights, reduce the glare in the room, or limit the light entering the aquarium. This will help the new fish not be stressed.
